美國爵士歌手／鋼琴家 Blossom Dearie，1924 年生於紐約，父母分別是英國與挪威後裔。她從小就開始學習古典鋼琴演奏，到了十幾歲則轉往爵士音樂發展。演出風格以咆勃樂為主，輕甜如少女般的嗓音令聽眾印象深刻，長年在紐約與倫敦兩地的高級私人俱樂部演出。

中學畢業後，Blossom Dearie 為了發展音樂事業而移居紐約市，在她開始個人演唱前，曾加入如 Blue Flames、Blue Reys 等團體，與管弦樂團一同表演。

1952 年她又移居巴黎，在當地成立了美聲團體 The Blue Stars of France ，成員包括傳奇音樂家 Michel Legrand 的姐姐 Christiane Legrand 與爵士鋼琴家 Bob Dorough。他們在 1954 年推出一首〈Lullaby of Birdland〉成為法國的暢銷曲，之後該團改組，變成家喻戶曉的 The Swingle Singers。Blossom Dearie 兩年後推出自己的首張個人專輯，不過只有彈奏鋼琴而沒有演唱。在這段期間，她最具知名度的曲子是由 Cy Coleman 和Joseph McCarthy Jr.譜寫的〈The Riviera〉。

回到美國後，Blossom Dearie 於五零年代末至六零年代初，在 Verve 唱片公司以個人歌手兼鋼琴家的身份發行了六張專輯，大多是以三或四重奏的形式錄製。電視節目「The Today Show」的主持人 Dave Garroway，很早就成為 Blossom Dearie 的歌迷，他多次邀請她上節目，使她的公眾知名度水漲船高。1962 年 Blossom Dearie 為知名啤酒商錄製電台廣告曲，獲得強烈迴響，專輯《Blossom Dearie Sings Rootin’ Songs》順勢推出，在當時只要購買啤酒加價一塊錢即可購得。

1964 年，Blossom Dearie 發行在 Capitol / EMI 唱片公司的唯一專輯《May I Come In?》，罕見地採用整個管弦樂團做為伴奏。於此同時，她頻繁在紐約的高級俱樂部演出，1966 年首次在倫敦著名的 Ronnie Scott’s 俱樂部登場。六零年代她共在英國推出四張專輯，由 Fontana 唱片公司發行。

沉寂了一段時間之後，Blossom Dearie 在 1970 年發行了《That’s Just the Way I Want to Be》專輯，當中收錄了向英國流行巨星 Dusty Springsfield 致敬的同名單曲。1974 年她成立自己的唱片公司 Daffodil Records，以完全掌控自己專輯的錄製與發行。在她生涯當中，多次出現於電視上，其中大部份皆為兒童教育節目「Schoolhouse Rock!」的配音工作。1983 年，她獲頒 Mabel Mercer 基金會發出的首座獎座。

多年以來，Blossom Dearie 的歌曲穿插在許多電影音樂中，包括《大藝術家》、《巧克力男孩》、《親情難捨》等。她也曾與 Lyle Lovett 等歌手合作錄音。一直到 2006 年超過八十歲的高齡，她都仍持續在俱樂部演出。

Blossom Dearie 在 2009 年 2 月 7 日因久病於紐約去世。
